Jorge grew up in 1960s San Francisco, where he was exposed to countless explosions of art and culture that fostered his love for painting early on in his childhood. Jorge is a mixture of formal and self-taught training which he has tapped into throughout his artistic career
Relying on his ever-evolving concept of color fields, he has hand-carved his own niche in the abstract realm, drawing inspiration from prolific artists like De Kooning, Rothko and Frankenthaler. A close glance at his work reveals multiple layers of shapes, patterns, and color fluctuation, often complemented with translucent colors which he has spent years cultivating. His work has been described as mixture of fiery shapes both masculine and feminine.
Over the years, Jorge’s work has been featured in local and national exhibitions where he has earned distinctions for the work presented. His artworks are sought after collectors and graces many homes in the US and abroad. He enjoys teaching his techniques and has done so at many art venues within the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Currently he most enjoys perfecting his approach to cold wax and oil and has taken classes with artist https://www.jerrymclaughlinart.com of Cold Wax Academy. Aside from his 2D art he has ventured into the realm of 3D where he is currently perfecting his approach with artist Fred Freeman.
Jorge is a member of the https://www.artcentervb.org where his artwork is on permanent exhibit.

I enjoy working on several artworks at the same time. I am constantly creating and experimenting with new ideas, materials and tools.

Currently I am taking classes with sculptor https://www.fredfreeman-figurativesculpture.com at http://artcentervb.org. It is an art form I have wanted to learn and I am a firm beleiver in continued education so I can grow and perfect my approach to my individual art form.
